Package of Ginkgo biloba seeds.

Collection of exotic plant seeds from around the world, ready to sow: Ginkgo biloba of China.

A contemporary of the dinosaurs, the gingko, or maidenhair tree, can trace its roots back to prehistoric times, and is regarded as a kind of living fossil. Small wonder, then, that it has become a symbol of longevity and strength. The gingko is also a treasure for a gardener as it tolerates modern pollution, is preyed upon by very few insects and parasites, and is highly resistant to disease. Now, with these seeds from Radis et Capucine, you can have a tree with an ancestry stretching back nearly 300 million years in your garden at home.

3 Ginkgo biloba seeds.
Sachet 13 x 13 cm

Cultivation method:
Put the seeds in a sand bag in your refrigerator for 6 to 8 weeks to awaken them gently (stratification). Fill a plant pot with sand-laced soil. Sow the seed and cover with a thin layer of soil. Pack lightly. Place the pot indoors behind glass and keep the soil moist without soaking. Over several weeks the seeds will germinate and the plants develop. The sapling may remain in the pot for several months before being transplanted. Gingkos are dioecious, being divided into male and female trees (the female can be recognised by its aromatic seeds).
