Composition:

  • A feeder kit to assemble
  • 1 kg birdseed
  • 1 bag of millet seed
  • 1 bag of giant sunflower seeds
  • 5 peanut seeds
  • 50 cm linen string
  • 1 reed straw
  • 1 8-page booklet

Growing method :

  • Assembling the feeder: before placing the seeds, assemble the feeder according to the instructions supplied in the box. Assemble the various parts of the feeder to form a solid, stable structure. Give free rein to your creativity by decorating the feeder.
  • Sowing: Fill the feeder with the seeds supplied and plant millet, sunflower, and peanut seeds in pots next to them, according to the specific instructions supplied with each variety. Be sure to space them evenly and bury the seeds at the recommended depth.
  • Watering: water lightly after sowing and keep moist. Coconut soil must not dry out.
  • Seed germination: sunflowers, millet, and peanuts will germinate within a few days.
  • Transplanting: depending on plant size and development, it may be necessary to transplant them into individual pots or an outdoor garden after a few weeks' growth. Keep a close eye on the growth of the plants, and carefully transfer them as soon as they have developed sufficient leaves and roots.
  • Harvesting: Peanuts generally ripen after about 4 months of growth. When the leaves start to turn yellow and dry out, the peanuts are ready to be harvested. Gently pull the plants out of the ground and harvest the peanuts by removing the pods from the soil. Try to feed it to the birds. Sunflowers may be staked in windy areas, flowering from July to September, but don't cut off the flowers. Let them dry, and the birds will come and help themselves. If you have cats. Cut the flower, let it dry, and hang it up high under cover. Finally, for millet, let the seed bunches dry (they'll start to turn brown or beige). Place the cut bunches in a dry, well-ventilated place to dry by hanging them upside down in a shady, well-ventilated spot.

Our advice: place the feeder in a quiet, peaceful spot, ideally near a window or in the garden. Make sure it's securely fastened to prevent it from falling over. Wait patiently for the birds to discover the feeder and start feeding. Encourage children to look closely at their feeder every day and note the birds they see. This will give them a better understanding of birds' feeding habits and help them learn to recognize different species. Complement their diet with dried peanuts, dried seeds from the center of the sunflower you've grown, and bunches of millet.
