Composition :
- 1 pot en terre cuite 5,5 cm
- 1 pastille de terre de coco
- 2 graines de bananier ornemental
Cultivation mode:
- Fertilized soil: To promote successful germination, start by soaking the fertilized coconut lozenges in 5 to 6 times their volume of water; they will instantly swell. Unlayer them and fill the pot with a spoon. Do not forget to keep a small part to cover the seeds after sowing.
- The seedling: before sowing, soak the seeds 24 hours in clear water to soften them. Plant a seed in the pot by pressing it down 1 cm, taking care to put the ear (flat part) of the seed on the side. Save the other one for a later sowing or to sow directly on your balcony when it will be good. Gently cover the seeds with fertilized coconut soil and tamp lightly.
- Watering: ideally, use rainwater or filtered water (without chlorine). Prefer a fine rain watering, ideally using a hand sprayer, to keep the soil just wet, without gorging it with water, throughout the culture. Think of the Earth as a sponge that is wet and then drained. Do not let the coconut soil dry.
- Transplanting: When the seedlings emerge and reach 5 cm in height, select only one plant per pot and transplant the others into new pots or planters. Be careful to be delicate, not to break the stems or roots when transplanting. Water to promote regrowth, and the plant will quickly grow.
- Harvest: The banana will grow very quickly, a few cm per day (no, not with the naked eye). On the other hand, it is an ornamental variety, so without grafting or crossing with another banana, it will give a decorative banana diet.
Note: the banana plant is a hardy plant that can withstand small occasional frosts up to -5°C.
