Composition:
- 1 transparent vivarium (23 x 13 x 13 cm), made in Europe
- 8 coco discs (6 cm) to rehydrate
- 1 bag of sand (800 g)
- 1 bag of pumice (200 g)
- 3 packets of Amsterdam carrot seeds
- 2 magic Vigna beans
- 1 packet of “transparent white” radish seeds
- 1 peanut seed
- 1 instruction sheet
How to grow:
- Fertilized Coco Soil: Before use, rehydrate the coco discs by soaking them in 5–6 times their volume of water. Within moments, they swell and become soft. Mix the soil well. Place pumice at the bottom for drainage, then sand, and finally the soil. Keep a small portion of soil to cover the seeds after sowing.
- Important: Keep the packaging around the vivarium. Place seeds near the walls to observe the roots, and cover the walls with the sleeve to prevent roots from escaping the light.
- Sowing: Place seeds near the container walls for easy root observation. Space them slightly and press them about 2 cm into the substrate. Gently pat down and water lightly to avoid displacing the seeds.
- Watering: Preferably use non-chlorinated water, such as rainwater or filtered water. A hand spray is ideal to maintain consistent moisture without saturating the soil. Water only the soil, not the young shoots, to reduce disease risk. Think of the soil as a damp sponge—not soggy. Do not let the substrate dry out between waterings.
- Germination: Place the container near a sunny window, but not on or near a heater. Natural light stimulates rapid germination, usually within 7–14 days depending on the plant variety.
- Transplanting: No transplanting is needed; seeds can remain in place. This allows you to observe root development without disturbing growth.
- Harvest: The first sprouts appear within a few weeks. Some plants, like beans, grow quickly and may need a small stake to support vertical growth. Radishes are edible.
- Observing Earthworms: To observe earthworms, you can add one to the vivarium after dividing it into two sections (one for plants, one for the worm). Turn a small amount of moist soil with a shovel to find earthworms. Feed them with dead leaves placed on top of the vivarium and maintain consistent moisture. This promotes a living, fertile soil.
