Composition :
- 13x13 cm bag containing 4 tea seeds
Method of cultivation :
- Sowing: Open the bag and pour the seeds into your hand. To sow, sprinkle the seeds over moist but not compacted coco potting soil, placing a maximum of 2-3 seeds per pot. Save the remaining seeds for later sowing, or sow them directly in your garden or balcony on sunny days. Gently cover the seeds with fertilized coco potting soil and pack lightly.
- Watering: Preferably use rainwater or filtered (chlorine-free) water. Prefer light rainfall watering, without touching the plants too much, ideally with a hand-held sprayer, to keep the soil just moist, without saturating it with water. Think of the soil as a damp sponge, then wring it out. Be gentle and measured when watering.
- Germination: The plant needs a warm, humid climate. Expose it to sunlight behind glass, without placing it directly on a radiator, and ideally with a plastic water bottle cut to serve as a mini-greenhouse. Tea seeds can take 1 to 2 weeks to germinate. Keep the seedlings under the plastic bottle for as long as possible to retain heat and moisture. The plant will grow normally if well watered.
- Planting: When seedlings emerge and reach 3 to 5 cm in height, keep only one plant per pot and transplant the others into new pots or planters, keeping them warm and moist. Be careful not to break stems or roots when transplanting. Water to encourage recovery. You can remove the pots when the plants are strong and the temperature is right.
- Harvesting: Camellia sinensis tea leaves can be harvested 2 to 3 years after planting. The tea plant is a 1-metre-high shrub that needs time to grow. From then on, the leaves can be harvested throughout the growing season, generally from May to October.
- More:Camellia sinensis is the plant from which all types of tea are produced: black, green, white and oolong. Tea has become an essential beverage in many cultures in Asia and beyond. It is celebrated for its medicinal properties, its ability to stimulate both mind and body.
