How to grow white mushrooms at home?
- Growing mushrooms at home is possible! It's quick and easy, and in just a few weeks you'll be able to grow white mushrooms (and organic ones at that!). Try out this fun growing method with this low-cost kit, and you'll be able to harvest beautiful harvests at home.
- The mushroom grows from the mycelium (a kind of seed) contained in the growing medium. There's no need to sow mycelium - it's already contained in the kit, so all you need to do is reactivate it and get it growing.
- Open the box and empty the casing soil (contained in the plastic bag on top of the straw) into a salad bowl.
- Moisten and mix, but don't soak too much either.
- Scrape the top of the straw to aerate it, then pour the goblet soil evenly over the entire surface.
- Put the lid back on, after pushing out the lugs on each side, so that it balances slightly elevated.
- Place in a cellar, storeroom or bathroom, or any other room not lit during the day and, if possible, not heated.
- Water by spraying with clear water every 3 to 4 days. Mushrooms will grow in 3 to 4 weeks.
- When you start to see a white veil on the surface of the soil, you can put the box in a room at 20°C to accelerate growth, while taking care to water it well so that your kit doesn't dry out.
Do not place near heating.
- Harvest when the mushrooms are 3 cm in diameter, tearing rather than turning them, to aerate the mycelium underneath and allow regrowth. 2 to 3 harvests are possible.
- Button mushrooms are ready to harvest when they reach full size and their caps begin to open.
- Use a clean knife to cut the mushrooms at the base of the stem.
- Harvest them as they mature, to avoid over-ripening.
Our advice: Place the kit in a cool, dark place in your home, such as a cupboard or cellar, where the temperature is between 15°C and 20°C. Make sure it's well ventilated, but protected from direct sunlight.
