Composition :
- 1 terracotta pot
- 1 bag of seeds of Epicea to sow
- 2 coconut lozenges to rehydrate
Cultivation mode :
- Coconut Lands: To promote successful germination, start by soaking the fertilized coconut lozenges in 5-6 times their volume of water: they will swell instantly. Unpack them and fill the pot with a spoon. Remember to keep a small part of it to cover the seeds after sowing.
- Sowing: Open the bag and pour some seeds into your hand. If they are too small, add sand to facilitate sowing. To sow, sprinkle the seeds on the wet uncompacted coconut soil, with a maximum of 2-3 seeds per pot. Save the remaining seeds for a later sowing or to sow them directly in your garden or on your balcony when the weather is nice. Gently cover the seeds with the fertilized coconut soil and tamp lightly.
- Watering: Use preferably rainwater or filtered water (without chlorine). Prefer a watering in fine rain, ideally with a sprayer, to keep the soil just wet, without soaking it with water, throughout the culture. Think of the soil as a damp sponge that you then have to wring out. Do not let the coconut soil dry.
- Germination: Expose them to sunlight behind a glass window, without putting them directly over a heater, to promote rapid and abundant germination. Alternatively, from the month of April, expose your balcony, window sill or terrace to the sun. Conifer seeds take a few days to germinate and the plant quickly becomes like a small tree. Be patient (e), it is a tree, so the growth will be slow.
- Planting: When the young shoots appear and reach 3 to 5 cm in height, keep only one plant per pot and transplant the others into new pots. Be careful not to break the stems or roots when transplanting. Water to promote recovery.
- Harvest: The small tree will grow slowly and reach 5 cm after 2 weeks. At the end of a small shoot, it can reach 8 to 10 cm. You can keep it in pots for at least 6 months before replanting it in open ground.
