Planting kit contents:
- Terracotta pot 8 cm in diameter
- Terracotta bowl 8 cm in diameter
- 1 wafer of 6 cm coconut soil to rehydrate in a little warm water
- 1 sachet of organic radish seeds for sowing
Cultivation mode:
- Fertilized soil: to promote successful germination, start by soaking the fertilized coconut lozenges in 5 to 6 times their volume of water: they will instantly swell. Unlayer them and fill the pot with a spoon. Do not forget to keep a small part to cover the seeds after sowing.
- Sowing: open the bag and pour seeds into your hand. If they are too small, add sand to make it easier to sow. For sowing, sprinkle the seeds on the wet uncompact coconut soil, maximum 2 to 3 seeds per pot. Save the rest of the seeds for later sowing or to sow directly in your garden or on your balcony when the weather is nice. Gently cover the seeds with fertilized coconut soil and tamp lightly.
- Watering: ideally, use rainwater or filtered water (without chlorine). Prefer a fine rain watering, ideally using a hand sprayer, to keep the soil just wet, without gorging it with water, throughout the culture. Water the soil and not the leaves, as this can bring diseases to young vegetables. Think of the Earth as a sponge that is wet and then drained. Do not let the coconut soil dry.
- Germination: expose to sunlight behind a glass, without putting on top of a heating, to promote rapid and abundant germination. Radish germination takes a few days and the plant grows quickly.
- Transplanting: no need to transplant, the crop is done in direct seeding/planting. After emergence, when the plants have 3 or 4 leaves, thinning to leave 1 cm between two radishes.
- Harvest: between 20 and 30 days after sowing. The size and sweetness of radishes depend on their water intake. Maintain regular watering for good radishes.
Our advice: take a bunch of radishes, wash them and remove the leaves. Mix them in a blender with just a few turns of the blades: they should not end up mashed, but only crushed. Add a drizzle of olive oil and a large pinch of fleur de sel. Refrigerate. It remains to eat them with a small spoon at the time of aperitif.
