Cultivation mode :

• Coconut lands: To promote successful germination, start by soaking the fertilized coconut lozenges in 5 to 6 times their volume of water: they will instantly swell. Fill the pot with a spoon. Keep a small portion to cover the seeds after sowing.
• Planting: Before sowing, soak the seeds for 24 hours in clear water to soften them. Plant a seed in the pot by pushing it down to 1 cm, making sure to place the ear (flat part) of the seed on the side. Keep the other seed for a later sowing or to sow directly on your balcony when appropriate. Gently cover the seeds with fertilized coconut soil and tamp lightly.
• Watering: Ideally, use rainwater or filtered water (without chlorine). Prefer a watering in fine rain, preferably with a spray, to keep the soil just wet, without clogging it with water, throughout the culture. Imagine the soil as a damp sponge, then wrung out. Do not let the coconut soil dry out.
• Germination: Expose to light behind a glass window, without putting directly on a heater, to promote rapid and abundant germination. From April, expose your balcony, window sill or terrace to the sun. Banana seeds can take a week to germinate and grow quickly if they are well watered.
• Planting the banana plant: When the seedlings emerge and reach 5 cm in height, select only one plant per pot and transplant the others into new pots or planters. Be careful not to break the stems or roots when transplanting. Water to promote regrowth and the plant will grow quickly.
• Harvest: The banana will grow very quickly, a few centimeters per day. However, it is an ornamental variety, so without grafting or crossing with another banana, it will only produce a decorative banana.
• Note: The banana tree is a hardy plant that can withstand occasional small frosts up to -5°C.
