Composition :

1 terracotta pot 6 cm in diameter.
1 bag of basil seeds to sow
2 coconut lozenges to rehydrate

Cultivation mode :

Coconut lands: To promote successful germination, start by soaking the fertilized coconut lozenges in 5 to 6 times their volume of water: they will inflate instantly. Untie them and fill the pot with a spoon. Remember to keep a small amount to cover the seeds after sowing.
Sowing: Open the bag and pour the seeds into your hand. If they are too small, add sand to facilitate sowing. To sow, spread seeds on the wet soil of uncompacted coconut, maximum 2-3 seeds per pot. Save the remaining seeds for later sowing or to sow directly in your garden or on your balcony when it is sunny. Gently cover the seeds with the fertilized coconut soil and tamp lightly.
Watering: Ideally, use rainwater or filtered water (without chlorine). Prefer a watering in fine rain, ideally with a spray, to keep the soil just wet, without flooding it with water, throughout the culture. Think of the soil as a wet sponge and then wrung out. Do not let the coconut soil dry.
Germination: Expose them to sunlight behind a glass, without putting them on a radiator, to promote rapid and abundant germination. Otherwise, from April on, expose your balcony, window sill or terrace to the sun. The germination of basil takes a few days and the plant grows quickly if it does not lack water.
Planting: When the seedlings emerge and reach 5 cm in height, select only one plant per pot and transplant the others into new pots or planters. Be careful not to break the stems or roots when transplanting. Water to promote regrowth.
Harvest: Pick the largest leaves 3 months after planting by pinching the stems without pulling them.
