Grow-your-own Crocodile – An Adorable Plant Pet

Sprout some good vibes with this grow-your-own crocodile, inspired by the famous Chia Pets! This terracotta figurine becomes a unique little plant companion: simply moisten its back, sow the chia seeds, and within a few days, a living green mane will appear.

1 porous ceramic crocodile figurine
1 packet of chia seeds
1 wooden spreader for the seeds

Growing tips:

Soak the chia seeds in a small amount of water for 1 hour to encourage germination and get a "gel-like" texture that will make it easier to apply to the Crocodile.

Using the wooden spatula, spread the seeds evenly over the dry Crocodile to form a thin, even layer. Do not overlap the seeds. Replace any seeds that fall off if necessary.

Once the seeds are in place on the Crocodile, put the Crocodile in a plate or small dish and fill it with water. Add water to the Crocodile every day and spray water on the seeds to keep them moist.

Place the Crocodile in a warm, bright spot, away from direct sunlight.

Maintain constant moisture by filling the Crocodile right to the top and spraying the seeds daily to keep them moist, especially during the first 5 days.

Within 5 to 10 days, sprouts will appear. Keep spraying to maintain the sprouts for a few weeks!

You can repeat the experience with new seeds once the old ones dry out.
